All DisplayPort is NOT Created Equal

TO USE 4K OR NOT TO USE 4K - THAT IS THE QUESTION

Are you having issues with your DisplayPort Adaptors working properly? It may be the resolution of your devices. Or it may be whether your cable is built for 4K or not.

4K ADAPTERS ARE POWERED

To adequately deliver 4K content to your screen, our DisplayPort adapters require power. Therefore, they must be plugged directly into a source with adequate power. If you are using a laptop, ensure that it is on line power and not on battery power. These adapters draw nearly a full watt of power when active.

They do not share power. If you use a 4k adapter, the cable cannot be an active cable.

CABLE SIZE & LENGTH MATTERS

Our 4K adapters are usually rated for a patching cable of 2 meters or less in length. We have confirmed 15 foot Premium Certified HDMI cables work. We have also noted that cheaper cables start to have issues over 2 meters.

In addition, the gauge (AWG), or diameter of your cable wires makes a difference. Use of micro 32 AWG or smaller will cause failures. Use at least 28 AWG wire for best results.

NO ADDED HARDWARE

4K adapters are meant for a source to display connection via a single cable. Connection to switches, distribution amps and extenders can introduce interoperability issues.

They also cannot be patched to a wall plate or similar coupler on a panel. It must be a direct device.

Follow these few recommendations and you're chances of a great 4K meeting are meant "to be!" :-)
